Protect your Website with the “UNDER CONSTRUCTION PAGE” Plugin

Protect your Website with the Free UNDER CONSTRUCTION Plugin

The “UNDER CONSTRUCTION PAGE” plugin is something most bloggers will need and should have.

It’s helpful to use when you are working on your website.

For experienced bloggers:

Instead of your visitors getting a 404 error, it will show them that your site is still there, and is still active, but that you are working on it to make it better!

For new bloggers:

It also works great as a “coming soon page”! For example, you can publish the “under construction page” even while you’re still searching for a theme you’ll be using on your website (if you’re a new blogger, or if you’re changing the theme), etc.

This FREE plugin will also protect you in Google while you work on your precious website! You will not lose any of your rankings! 🙂

4 Productivity Apps Designed to Help you Succeed

4 Productivity Apps Designed to Help you Succeed

Regardless of your age, sometimes it’s hard to be productive.

You know this already; this is no secret!

However, if you properly learn how to effectively manage your time, you will increase your productivity.

Because we now live in a highly digital age, where it’s tempting to spend (waste) time constantly checking email and social media, freelance writers and bloggers must learn how to block out distractions so they can get things done!

To help you become more productive, you can also use one or more productivity apps to help you.

Today, my guest, Wendy Dessler, is going to share four of these apps with you, which will work well from high school, through college, and into the business world.

4 Productivity Apps Designed to Help you Succeed

1. Clockspot

Apps like Clockspot help track all the hours that are spent on a project. Knowing where your time is being used is the first step in controlling it and harnessing your power. This also gives you the knowledge of your work pace. You will soon know how much time you need to complete a certain project and that will help you become more efficient.

2. FocusON

Learning to focus and maintain that focus is one of the most powerful tools you can give your child, and yourself! In the era of Internet each of us is easily distracted. From social media, mobile phones, computers, television and video games, there is always something screaming for our attention.

FocusON is one of the best apps available to help with this issue. It is a free download and it is easy to use. It is also difficult to turn off once you have set and activated it. This will discourage you from trying to stop the app when you walk away.

3. Anti-Social

We are a globally social community. Social media sites are part of our everyday routine. We feel we have to know where everyone is and what everyone is doing 24/7.

But when it is time to work, study or write, we need to be antisocial for the duration. Anti-Social blocks any of the social media sites that you set as a distraction. You set the length of time and for that period of time, there will be no social interaction.

4. RescueTime

Sometimes we need to get a good look at the whole picture. That is what this app does. RescueTime allows you to see how much time you (or your teenager) spends each day on social media, YouTube, and any other site that you frequent. It runs quietly in the background of the computer and then gives you a report that will outline what you did, and how long you did it.

This amazing tool lets you see how much time you are wasting each day. Knowing this allows you to change your behaviors. While we all know we spend a little too much time on different sites, we are often shocked when we see just how much time we actually spend!

This also allows parents to see and change emerging patterns in their children.

Be Productive!

Activating these apps will give you the power to mold yourself into a more efficient and productive person, and teaching these skills to your children is an invaluable asset to them that will remain throughout their lives.

So what are you waiting for?

Go get productive!

Why Blogging can be a Ridiculous Waste of Time

Why-Blogging-can-be-a-Ridiculous-Waste-of-Time

I often get asked, “Do you make money from blogging?”

This is a tricky question, because I actually make money as a result of blogging. Sure, I earn some money through affiliate sales and AdSense… and The Essence of Blogging (+ How to Earn Money Online) lists the other ways I have expanded my income sources. I now have 9+ revenue streams! 🙂

But…

No one pays me for creating blog posts for my own sites.

No one pays me for promoting them, either.

However, if I DIDN’T blog, no one would know who the heck I was!

They wouldn’t learn about my freelancing writing and editing services.

Nor would they know I’m an independently published author who has another website where I talk about my books, and all other things, including poetry, book review, and true stories about my life.

Nor would they know I help others become authors too.

Blogging is a way to get your content in front of the right people.

So is guest posting! 😉

Is Blogging A Complete Waste of Time?

Some people think blogging is a ridiculous waste of time. I’m not kidding.

The truth is: IT CAN BE.

Or, at least, it can feel that way… sometimes. There is A LOT TO BLOGGING. Read 5 Things New Bloggers Need to Know.

It’s no secret that there are many pros and cons to blogging. After we look a the benefits, we’ll look at some of the pitfalls. Read More

Why Copywriting Really is an Art

Why Copywriting Really is an Art

I always pay attention to is the quality of the writing of the people I am talking to!
I can never shut off my inner editor!

Words Matter

Have you ever considered the written content of a website or an email? Copywriting really is an art when you consider the burden that is placed on its shoulders because it is used as part of a marketing strategy. This will mean that it has to work in a particular way, but it also has to deliver a message that will result in people taking action?

When words are delivered in such a way, they grip the reader and they make them want to behave in the desired way – this is exactly why it is an important tool in the marketing world.

Copywriting is huge. In fact, its importance should not be underestimated because the biggest businesses in the world rely on it to work for them. When they require a creative message that they want to be delivered to their customers, they simply use a copywriter. Read More

How Blogging and Freelancing Go Hand-in-Hand

I’m pleased to present you with a guest post today from Ryan Biddulph, the nomadic dude who lives all over the world… island-hopping, traveling to new and exciting places, encountering strange people (like the guy who stole his $1 flip-flops!) and living life on his terms as a blogger, an author, and a freelance writer.

I met Ryan online when he first became an author. Ryan and I have a lot in common. We are both authors, bloggers, and freelance writers.

He, however, is a bit more famous than I am (wink wink!) because he has been featured on Forbes, Fox News, Entrepreneur, Richard Branson’s Virgin Blog, John Chows Dot Com and Neil Patel Dot Com.

Ryan has also written and self-published 126 bite-sized e-books, which he sells on Amazon!

Some of his top-sellers include:

We all love a good match.

Blogging and freelance writing, like the above duos, are perfect together.

When I asked my buddies if they wanted me to write a guest post for them, Lorraine was all over the opportunity like bees to honey. Or like feisty critters to the house where Kelly and I are currently living in Thailand, with centipedes, scorpions, tarantulas and foot-long Tokay geckos!

Anyway, I love the blog topic we both agreed on because Lorraine and I are freelance writers as well as bloggers. I see a few parallels between running a thriving freelance writing business and a successful blog.

Let’s dive into these parallels. Read More
