Blog Awards: What are your views?

This is a picture of a stick man I created who I like to call Gimpy. He's frustrated because he doesn't know what is going on! He's trying to comment on my blog, but can't.

What are your views on blogging awards? Do you think they serve a purpose? Have you ever received any?

Please see the end of this post for a few other questions I have for you . . .  and please weigh in!

(Note: This was first published as a page on this site. I’ve deleted the page and am republishing it as a post instead, because I’m still proud of my “newbie” accomplishments from last year!)

Awards for l’il ol’ me?

Wording Well used to be called Lorraine Reguly’s Life (back when I was a newbie blogger). Lorraine Reguly’s Life received many awards. I’m proud of them all, too! 🙂

What awards are for

Awards seem to be mainly for “new” bloggers, don’t they? Newbies are recognized in the blogosphere through them. Awards provide recognition and inspiration. They are like a pat on the back from an older sibling or parent. They also help you connect with other bloggers, and even offer a new blogger a few backlinks.

THIS IS A ‘TRUE TALES TUESDAYS’ POST

Identifying my rapist is probably the most unconventional way of accepting an award, but somehow it makes sense for me, since part of the acceptance is to reveal seven things about myself.  Because I cannot simply just say, “I was raped,” and then tell you six more things about me, I decided to shift the focus and combine my acceptance of this award with telling you some things, intimate things, about my past. This is a True Tales Tuesdays post after all! Read More

Three More Liebster Awards? I’m Not A Newbie Anymore!

76760-liebster-blog-award5b15d

I am pleased to announce three more Liebster Awards have been given to me. It’s been a while since I have received an Award of any kind, and so I’m grateful to Jeri Walker-Bickett (a writer friend) for bestowing this award upon me. Funny, crazy, quirky Cee Lee also gave me this award. Connor Rickett, another freelance writer I know, also gave me this award – damn him! I shouldn’t have accepted it, but he’s one of a kind. (Aren’t we all?) 😉 Read this post to see what I mean. You’ll die laughing. 😀 Read More

Apparently, I’m Now “It”!

I have been tagged. So now I am “it”, whatever that means. I guess I’m “all that, and a bag of chips”! (Do any of you recognize this saying?) 🙂

Felicia tagged me, and from what I can see, this is kind of like an award. I’m getting a bit tired of these awards, to be honest with you, even though they provide a good way to meet other bloggers. However, I have never seen Felicia before, nor have I read any of her posts, and I am pretty sure she has never read any of mine.

So, for this game, I’m making a mockery of things.  I’ll answer her questions, but I’m not going to tag any others. I don’t want to tick them off! I hope you find my answers hilarious!  Read More

I’ve Been Given Another Award!

Ever since I posted “Post Your Links Here To Promote Yourself and Your Blog!”, I have met quite a few new people, and gained some new readers. Some of these readers don’t know that I’ve already been the recipient of several awards, including the Shine On Award and the  Liebster award, and so I’ve recently received another nomination for the latter, from Robert Price, who is the blogger at “From A Clogged Mind.” Thanks Robert!

I decided to accept this award again because:

  • Robert was nice enough to nominate me for it 🙂
  • I believe in paying it forward
  • other bloggers deserve the chance to meet new people, which is basically the whole point of these memes 🙂
  • I have been bookmarking blogs that I could nominate, and now I have the chance to present them with this award! (I kinda knew that I’d be nominated for an award again, not to sound vain, but I am awesome, so why wouldn’t someone nominate me?) 🙂

So, here goes…
