I bet you’ve had some success with freelance writing.

But I bet you wish you had more. Like Gina Horkey, who made over 9K in June 2015.

Great news! I’ve discovered something that will help!

It’s an e-course called 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success.

Write Your Way to Your First #1K

30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success  was created by Gina Horkey, a freelancer I met through Elna Cain, another freelancer I know and who happens to live in the same city as I do!

NOTE: I have met Elna for lattés at Starbucks several times. In fact, we get together regularly. She even interviewed me on Innovative Ink.

Yeah, Elna rocks. 😉 She’s my new best friend.  🙂 And she sells a course for writers, too, called Write Your Way to Your First $1K.

But… back to Gina…

Gina created 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success

Gina rocks, too. 🙂

Gina Horkey runs Horkey Handbook and is the creator of 30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success.

It’s a huge help to freelancers!

I’ve gone through the course; I should know. 🙂

And I loved it.

I learned from it, too. A lot!
30 Days or Less to Freelance Writing Success

30 — NO, 32 — Days of Goodness!

This course actually consists of 32 lessons.

In it you will learn:

  • why you want to make a name for yourself in the freelance writing space
  • how to create specific income goals for yourself and your business
  • who’s in your support system
  • how to narrow down 2-3 different types of writing you want to try
  • how to choose those primary and secondary niches
  • how to bootstrap your business
  • a few new ways to use Google
  • how to format blog posts
  • how to find and source free photos
  • how to build samples for your portfolio
  • how to decide on a web home base
  • how to set your rates
  • how to develop your pitch
  • how to implement four successful habits for pitching jobs
  • where and how to use job boards
  • the right questions to ask prospects (a super-important lesson!!!)
  • how to implement an accounting system for your business
  • how to secure at least one testimonial
  • how to draft your bio
  • how to choose and implement your social media presence for your business
  • how to start a Hire Me page (if you launched your own website)
  • three new ways to brand your business
  • four ways to protect yourself online
  • two new ways to maximize your email presence
  • three new tips for building strategic relationships
  • how to add your Gravatar and start connecting with other bloggers
  • why you should consider working with a mentor
  • some blogging and email list strategies
  • what options to consider for diversifying your new freelance business
  • how to make money and become an affiliate (like I am)
  • how to construct a writing resumé

Gina says:

I chose to offer the course in a 30-day email format, knowing that if you bite off a small chunk every day for 30 days, you can more easily digest and use the material. By the end of the 30 days, you will have built a solid foundation to launch your business!

The course is designed so that you can take it at your own pace. At the bottom of each email, there is a link to get the next lesson in your inbox ASAP. I wanted people that had more time or desire to be able to get through the material more quickly if they wanted to. On the flip side, if someone wanted to do a lesson every few days, they could do that too. You decide when you get the next lesson, so you can tackle it at your own pace.

Hi! So, I have a question. I have been wanting to take my writing up to the next level. I wanted to take this course and another one that was mentioned so I can better my craft. However, I have no money and am unable to work at the moment. Should I sign up for a couple of writing websites, if only to scrounge up some cash to pay for the course? I am a beginner when it comes to writing, but I WANT to get paid for freelance work, if only a little.

      Henry,

First of all, don’t underestimate your worth. Your writing is strong, based on comment. Charge at least 10 cents USD per word, even if you are starting out.

Secondly, why are you unable to work right now?

Thirdly, get yourself a free website on WordPress.com and set up a page where you can direct people to that outlines your rates. Start blogging. Create samples.

Finally, save money and invest in a course. You will earn more once you know what you are in store for and you will be able to raise your rates as you learn!

Good luck and I wish you all the best!

      Lorraine

    Hi Lorraine

This looks like a great resource I know a good handful of people that love writing but have no idea how to get online and get results and even though I give them a ton of ideas on how to get started it is not my area of expertise and you know a preacher is never heard in his own back yard.

So I will be referring them to this review and hopefully it will help them get started.

    Thanks for sharing

  14. Hi Lorraine,

Looks like a helpful course! I know how confusing freelancing can be. As a newbie I was lost. I learned through the school of hard knocks and lemma tell ya; experience did not spare the rod. I am thankful for this but also feel it’s smart to learn from a pro like Gina. Ditto on Elna too; she’s awesome.

I have fun meeting fellow freelance writers and coaches. We each have much to share and our sharing benefits all, right? Keep learning, evolving and getting clearer and clearer on your vision and you’ll naturally attract the people and resources necessary to make your online and offline dreams come true.

    Thanks Lorraine!

Hi Ryan. It’s tough to learn the ropes when you’re a new freelancer, isn’t it? Only through experience — and courses like Gina’s — can we learn the ins and outs of a business that can be both lucrative and satisfying. 🙂

Elna IS awesome. I know we travel in several of the same circles on the Internet, and I’ve seen your comments on both her blog as well as a few others. 😉

Talk soon, and thanks for the Tweet!
