Do you know what a “noun” is? Basically, a noun refers to any person, place, or thing.
There are rules for capitalizing nouns, too.
When is it appropriate to capitalize a noun?
I found a neat infographic for you to answer this question. I hope you like it!
Did you learn anything about capitalizing nouns? I sure hope so!
Hi Lorraine; well i’m sure the info graphic is cool. 🙂 whenever I think about nouns I think about the old school house rock music videos which were actually done before we had the phrase music video. thanks for trying to make us all better writers. take care, max
Max, I don’t expect perfection from a blind blogger when it comes to these sort of writing tips! 😉 I could edit your comment, but I won’t. You should, however, begin each sentence with a capital and also capitalize your name, though! Geez, Max, even you should know that!
useful
Glad you thought so!
Hi Lorraine,
That surely was a wonderful infographic 🙂
Yes, there is so much one can do while using nouns, as we have to be careful of the things, just as it’s mentioned above. However, should it be ‘Far East’ – just wondering why the ‘F’ in Far is also in capital – just the first alphabet in the direction East was alright in capital, or did I miss something? I guess I need some lessons too then….:)
Thanks for sharing. Have a nice weekend 🙂
Harleena, this just goes to show you that we all can use a refresher when it comes to nouns!
Far East and Middle East are both nouns that need capitalization. However, it is an “English thing,” and you can find out more about this by doing a search. Wikipedia is a great resource. Here’s the link to the definition of “Far East.”
By the way, if you are ever in doubt when you are writing something, double-checking never hurts. 😉
Have a great weekend, too. 🙂
