“Learning on the go” is something we can all do more of.
Whether you’re a professional at writing and blogging, or just beginning, we all need to hone our craft and grow in our capabilities.
But (like most writers) who actually has time for that?
If you’re like me, the first thing to go when I’m busy is the extra training and studying. We’ve got lives to live, mouths to feed – three, in my case – and work that needs to be done.
So, how do we inject lessons, learning, and practice into our already busy lives?
The stress can feel daunting and we may sometimes feel like giving up.
However, in the age of mobile devices and streaming, we no longer have to sacrifice our precious time in order to fit in our studies and growth. Instead, we can use some key tactics and methods to help us improve and hone our craft so we can make “learning on the go” much easier.
Today, I want to show you four methods to learning your craft that helped this father of three still be with his family and do his job while also gaining the skills and knowledge that helped me to build a 7-figure online business.
It’s no secret how I did it – it was just a determination with a focus on effectiveness and efficiency.
By integrating these “learning on the go” methods into your life, you, too, can be as productive as I am and learn to grow your business as well!
1: Free Series and Lessons — Podcasts
Podcasts are an incredible way to learn on the go. While there are many podcasts created for the sole purpose to entertain, many have been created to teach you or discuss certain trades of the craft.
But what makes podcasts so unique for our path to “grow while on the go” is their benefits:
– The ability to listen anywhere, including during your commute or during your gym workout
– Regular episodes, which allows you to stay on top of the latest trends in your industry or niche
– The personality and voice of the content creator is stronger than in a blog post
The best part of podcasts is that finding them is simple. You can either go to iTunes and use their Search feature and type in what kind of things you want to learn, or you can turn to Google and look for lists presented online with best recommendations based on what it is you’re looking for.
For writers, here’s a list of the best podcasts to help you not only improve your writing skills, but also for how to use your writing for creating a book, writing better blogs, or just turning to freelance work.
2: Books Being Read to You — AudioBooks
I’m a massive fan of listening to audiobooks. Like podcasts, you can listen to them at a regular time, but I prefer to listen to them at a faster speed, such as 1.5x or 2x their normal speed, which allows me to listen to even more content in a smaller time frame.
By listening to audiobooks, I’m able to enjoy the latest and greatest of new titles from my personal favorite genres (mainly Sci-Fi and nonfiction).
However, what’s helped me most is the incredible wealth of nonfiction books about better writing, leadership, and living an efficient life.
Through audiobooks, you can digest key books to help you progress in life, all while driving, waiting in line, or while you’re going for a walk.
What’s more is that there are different markets you can choose from, with different benefits:
– Audible – A paid subscription that allows you one book a month.
– Playster – Like Audible, except that you get unlimited books for the same amount, however, their list of books isn’t as full as Audible.
– iTunes – Offers books on a one-off price.
– Library – You can download audiobooks online for free and just about every library today offers this.
I’d highly suggest adding audiobooks into your daily routine. It’s a great way of consuming information you wouldn’t otherwise have time for, and it makes learning on the go super easy!
3: Books that Fit in Your Pocket — E-books
I still marvel at just how many e-books you can take with you on a single device.
Like Chandler Bolt of the Self Publishing School says, “With the advent of e-books, came the ability to carry, deliver and read books no matter where you are.”
It is for this reason that there has been an explosion of books on the market.
At first, I didn’t fully understand that until my friend got me a Kindle for my birthday. I immediately put a couple of books on it, and then quickly forgot about it until one day, I thought of bringing it with me. It slid perfectly into my pocket!
That’s right! I can easily carry my Kindle with me at all times. With that, I now have access to my books no matter where I am. While at lunch, I can just slip it out. When waiting for my wife to finish shopping…yup! It comes right out.
With this one simple realization, I have become someone who rarely read a book to someone who finishes a new one every week.
So, don’t forget your Kindle or other e-book reader and word of advice: If you do decide on using this tactic, either get an e-book with a backlit frame or choose a clip-on reading light to attach to your Kindle. I’ve found that lighting can be a pain.
4: Learning Apps
It’s true that there’s an app for almost everything, but there are those which are more or less beneficial for your life and aims.
One of the best possible types of apps you should consider checking out is within the educational niche.
There are specialist apps for learning almost anything. Some of my favorite types include:
– Full-length course apps that allow you to take in-depth and often accredited courses in almost anything at your own schedule
– Language learning apps that let you easily learn a language while you’re on the go
– Technical apps for learning skills such as HTML
Instead of wasting your time playing games, why not download a learning app and improve your life by adding a valuable new skill? If you make learning (and learning on the go) a part of your lifestyle, you’ll improve your knowledge, be able to grow your business faster, and be more successful!

I’m a firm believer in being a lifelong learner, and it’s never too late to start!
However, thanks to technology, we now have ways of learning while driving in the car, waiting in line, or whenever we want.
So, be sure to check out some of these methods and start incorporating them into your daily life so you can make “learning on the go” much easier!

Enjoyed the post and I am going to share it with my students.
Learning on the go is very effective and profitable. It saves time, increases energy level, stops from being distracted otherwise. But I personally encourage my students to read and learn on-the-go because of its time-saving advantage.
I am a Digital Marketing trainer and my students travel long distances to join my classroom classes. As most of my students are working professionals, I always suggest them to watch my class videos when they are commuting everyday, this not only saves their time but don’t consume additional hours at their office or home.
